To The American Legion,

The Veterans and Staff, at the Long Island State Veterans Home would like to thank you for your generous donation of gift bags on August 22, 2015.

Feeling connected to the community is very important to residents in our nursing home setting. It diminishes a sense of institutionalization and allows the individual to be part of the existing neighborhood. This increases quality of life along with a sense of wellness. Being remembered is especially meaningful to veterans. It validates all the sacrifices that they made to ensure our freedom. It helps them to know they are not forgotten.

Sincerely,
