Nassau County 5K/10K Run for Veterans

Help Local Veterans in Need. All profits will provide direct support to local veterans. Join us for this run/walk by Veterans Memorial Plaza in Nassau County's Eisenhower Park Parking field #6A. The 5K / 10K Race will be on August 25, 2018, start time is 9:00 a.m. and Post Race Festivities will run until 2:00 p.m. The cost is $30 per person and you must register online by August 16, 2018. Event Overview
The Nassau County 5K / 10K Run for Veterans is a run / walk that will take place on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, NY with the goal of continuing to raise awareness and funds to help local veterans in need of financial assistance. Last year's inaugural event was a great success with hundreds of participants and thousands of dollars raised that went directly into the hand of worthy veteran recipients in need of temporary financial relief.
The event consists of 2 distances (5K and 10K) and is open to anyone who wishes to run or walk in support of our local veterans. Participants start in parking field #6A inside Eisenhower Park, run out onto Park Blvd. passing the Nassau County Veterans Monument and finish right back where they started before celebrating the accomplishment at the post-race festival featuring live music and refreshments. All finishers will receive a finisher medal and awards for the top three overall finishers of the race. All profits from the Nassau County 5K / 10K Run for Veterans will go directly to local veterans in need through the "Veterans Assistance Foundation".

Dear Friends of Veterans,
It gives me great pleasure to once again announce the Nassau County 5K/10K Walk and Run for Veterans 2018. The Nassau County Veterans Service Agency will again host this year's race event. The Veterans Service Agency is committed to making this charity race a success; which will help facilitate necessary assistance to all local veterans. The event will take place on Saturday, August 25, 2018 from 9:00 am to 12:00 p.m. The 5K/10K Walk and Run will take place entirely at Eisenhower Park. The event is also being organized by a professional marathon track committee who will make this event a success. We are excited to announce this event and how it will help assist our local heroes.
During the Past few years, our agency has experienced a significant demand for veterans immediate assistance. Primarily, these issues are related to problems regarding physical disabilities, housing/rent assistance, utility bills, child day care, and veterans mental health. We now have a new generation of veterans who have arrived home in Nassau County and are struggling with trying to achieve their fullest potential. The reintegration process into civilian life for many new veterans is extensive and can at times be challenging. As well, we have many of our senior citizen veterans whom cannot afford the current cost of living. All veterans no matter their age must find employment, housing, food transportation, child day care and manage the daily struggles that all Americans face. These local veterans will have many critical challenges to face in the coming years. We wish to help these veterans get the resources they need to sustain their lives here in Nassau County.
We are kindly asking that you support the Nassau County 5K/10K Walk and Run for Veterans 2018 with sponsorship of this event. As well, please help us inform anyone who would be interested in participating in the event as a walker or runner. The proceeds for this event will go directly to the Veterans Assistance Foundation Inc., who will provide this direct support for our local veterans. All checks for sponsorship should be made payable to "Veterans Assistance Foundation". The "Veterans Assistance Foundation" is an organization comprised of prominent veterans from Long Island, whose mission is to directly assist veterans in-need. This direct support will make a substantial difference with the veterans community and help support our veterans who sacrificed so much on our behalf.
