Dear Veteran Organization,

As part of our commitment and gratitude to those who served our country in defense of our flag, Covanta, owner and operator of the Hempstead Resource Recovery Facility is proud to invite you to a Flag Day Ceremony on June 14, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at our facility.

For the past several years, we have been working with veteran groups on developing a program for the respectful retirement and disposal of serviceable American flags. We are proud to announce an expansion of this program that will make it easier for groups to drop-off retired and serviceable flags for disposal year around in our new collection bin. Details for dropping off the flags are attached to this letter.

All flags will be combusted with dignity at our facility in an environmentally protective manner while also abiding by the U.S. Flag Code and maintaining the respect this solemn activity calls for. Utilizing the Hempstead Resource Recovery Facility provides the additional benefit of avoiding the harmful environmental impacts of open burning.

Covanta is very proud to support our veteran community and we hope that you will join in our enthusiasm as we honor the most iconic symbol our our nation by this wonderful program. We hope your organization is able to join us on Flag Day. Please R.S.V.P. to This email address is being protected from spambots.
